PP6 Project

For the Japanese Inspired Environmental Track I really had to take time and understand the instruments and how they are used in the culture. For example like the shakuhachi. It is such a great sounding woodwind flute that can cut through. I had to have it being played in the piece that compliment the rest of the instruments. Also, how it was being played. I added some orchestral strings to be what I can in picture being a bed for the shakuhachi. The challenge for me was figuring out the right percussion elements for this track. I relied heavily on the Taiko drums for this track. I think the Taiko drums complemented the track nicely. Allowing to really help express the adventure aspect to the track. For this track I originally was going to score of love Japan but I felt like I wanted to switch it to adventure half way through scoring it. So another challenge I faced was what to add and take away.  Another instrument that I used in this piece was the Koto. I used it to help support melody and motif for the track. I love the pluck sound that the strings make. I think that instrument pairs well with the orchestral instruments as well. Overall, working on this track I learned a lot and enjoyed the process that in creating it. I think that I could have added more adventure in this track and have the energy come in a lot sooner. Which I will keep in mind for future projects.
